Your Questions, Answered

  • Why not get your portrait done?

A portrait gives you a clear moment to be seen. It captures something true about you, not just how you look, but how you are. If you want a piece of art that reflects your presence, marks a moment in your life, or simply lets you view yourself with fresh eyes, this process offers that.

  • Your portrait will hold a sense of likeness, though the degree may gently vary. It isn’t created to mirror you exactly, but to reflect the presence you bring into the sitting. There is room for intuitive interpretation, allowing the artwork to reveal something true rather than simply record what is seen.

  • There’s very little you need to do. Simply arrive as yourself and allow a little space around the session so you’re not rushing. The study works best when you come with an open, unhurried presence. Nothing more is required.

  • Working with me is calm, attentive, and uncomplicated. I listen closely, notice the small things, and create space for you to simply be yourself ~ open mind, humour, hesitations and all. The process is steady and human, shaped by presence rather than performance. People often say it feels like being seen without pressure, and collaborating with someone who brings both clarity and creativity to the moment.

  • The Initial Study is designed to be an in‑person experience. The subtleties of presence, gesture, rhythm, and energy are best understood when we share the same space. If distance makes this difficult, we can explore a remote option using photographs and zoom conversation. The process shifts slightly, but the outcome doesn’t lose its depth, we can still arrive at a thoughtful, honest portrait either way.

  • The entire process from the initial study will take about 6-8 weeks.

  • Framing isn’t included in the price. Each portrait is delivered unframed so you can choose a style that suits your space and the way you want the work to live in your home. I’m always happy to offer guidance if you’d like suggestions.

  • I use a simple two‑step payment structure. A 50% deposit is made before the Initial Study to secure your place in the process. The remaining 50% is paid at the Moment of Seeing when your finished portrait is revealed. This keeps the process steady, transparent, and aligned with the rhythm of the work.
